MALAO PHOTO TRIP
We organize these trips for a group of photographers which typically include students or people who love taking photos. We went on a road trip to remote communities that led not only to discoveries about the individual lives of the people they met but about their own lives as well. We choose villages that are quite different from each other in different ethnicities, cultures, activities, and living conditions, to provide something interesting for participants to take photos of. Some villages don’t even have access to electricity (not to mention the Internet). People who live in remote areas don’t have a chance to even have their ID photo. While photographers wander around the village, villagers can come and have their ID photos taken. We also offer to take their individual portrait or with their friends and families. If they have old photos that they want to scan/repair/retouch, enlarge, and print, we can do that for them as well.
Then, in the evening, we invite them to come for a screening of movies and the photos that the team took during the day. All of these are free of charge.
For the past three years, we only organized the activities in Luang Prabang. In the future, we may visit other provinces.
Until now only Lao photographers could participate free of charge. As from 2023, we are open for a limited number of foreign photography lovers. We can offer an unique experience. Visit Laos with us from within and exchange ideas and skills with each other and like-minded Lao people. We ask for a fee to pay for their specific costs and help Malao to survive.
